Mainly a civil servant state, it also has a vast array of artisans who engage in various trades such: fishing, weaving, beads making, painting, petty trading and crafts etc. Due to the current administration of Governor Ben Ayade, the state is turning to an industrial hub with various industries being conceived, some already finished with products like rice, tooth picks, garments sold in the market and other states and also being exported to other countries. Visitors always think about Calabar with fond memories and they are annual festivals which come up like the traditional Leboku festival, bikers carnival, cultural carnival and the mother of them all the international Christmas festival which happens with so much pomp and pageantry.
